First Cabinet Meeting Changed to Lunchbox Meeting... "Discussing Wildfire Countermeasures" Yonhap News

President Lee Jaemyung changed his first Cabinet meeting on June 5 to a lunchbox meeting.

Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the presidential office, held a briefing on current issues at the Yongsan presidential office on the same day and stated, "President Lee is sharing his philosophy of governance with the current Cabinet and is reviewing pending issues and proposing alternatives during the Cabinet meeting." Kang added that the meeting included discussions on countermeasures for recent large-scale wildfire disasters.

Kang also reported that President Lee completed his first electronic approval of a government document since taking office. As of 9:30 a.m. that day, Kang Hunsik was officially appointed as Chief Presidential Secretary, Wi Sunglak as Director of the National Security Office, Hwang Inkwon as Chief of the Presidential Security Service, and Kang Yujeong as spokesperson.

Most civil servants who had been seconded to the office of former President Yoon Sukyeol and then returned to their original ministries completed their return to duty that day. This measure was taken in accordance with President Lee's directive for "return to original positions." Kang explained, "Most have returned to work, and the foundation for operations is gradually being established," adding, "Chief Secretary Kang Hunsik will communicate necessary work-related matters to staff during a meeting on June 8."

Meanwhile, when asked whether there had been a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump, an official from the presidential office replied, "The schedule is being coordinated."
