Photo Zones, Light Tunnel, and Nakhwanori...
A Romantic Summer Night Awaits
Dobong-gu in Seoul will host the '2025 Dobong Starlight Festival' from June 13 to 17 along a 540-meter stretch of Jungnangcheon (from Dobong-gu Office to Sewolgyo Bridge). This year's festival will feature a vibrant nighttime landscape that blends light, art, and culture, as well as a variety of performances and hands-on experiences.
Last September, residents walked along Jungnangcheon following the nightscape lighting at the Jungnangcheon Lantern Festival. Provided by Dobong-gu.
During the festival, the Jungnangcheon promenade will be decorated with nine different photo zones, including installations themed after the moon and flower carriages, as well as LED sculptures such as a Milky Way light tunnel. From sunset, colorful lights will illuminate the night sky above Jungnangcheon, creating a beautiful spectacle.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. on June 13, featuring performances by the district's women's choir and children's choir, as well as celebratory performances by singer Kim Suchan and the rock band Romantic Punch. Notably, this year will mark the debut of the 'Nakhwanori' event, where 500 falling flower lanterns will scatter across the night sky like flower petals during the lighting ceremony at 8:10 p.m.
On June 13 and 14, a variety of side events will be held, including food booths run by local traditional markets and professional organizations, as well as a 'Wish Lantern Floating' activity in which visitors can participate directly.
Oh Unseok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "I hope you will come with your family, friends, or loved ones and fully enjoy the romantic atmosphere of Jungnangcheon at night in Dobong."
