On June 6, 2025, at 9:45 a.m., the city of Ulsan will hold the 70th Memorial Day Ceremony at the Ulsan Grand Park Memorial Tower under the theme "The Yesterday They Protected, the Tomorrow We Will Create."
This year's ceremony will be attended by over 2,000 people, including Mayor Kim Dukyum, national merit recipients and their bereaved families, heads of institutions and organizations, citizens, and students. The event aims to honor the noble spirit of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
The ceremony will begin with a memorial dance performed by the Ulsan Municipal Dance Company. At 10:00 a.m., a nationwide moment of silence will be observed as sirens sound across the country, followed by a tribute of floral offerings and incense burning, a memorial address, the recitation of a commemorative poem, and the singing of the Memorial Day song.
In particular, Mayor Kim Dukyum's memorial address and the recitation of a commemorative poem by Park Namsuk, head of the Ulsan branch of the War Bereaved Families Association, will provide an opportunity to reflect on the noble sacrifices of the fallen heroes and to honor their profound legacy.
An official from Ulsan City stated, "In observance of Memorial Day, we ask all households and workplaces to fly the national flag at half-mast, and to join in a solemn minute of silence at exactly 10:00 a.m. as the sirens sound, praying for the repose of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes."
On the day of the event, national merit recipients and bereaved families visiting the venue will be provided with free city bus service upon presentation of a national merit certificate and the wearing of a commemorative ribbon.
