USIM Protection Service Now Available Abroad Without Additional Application

On June 5, LG Uplus announced that it has improved its USIM Protection Service so that customers who subscribe to overseas roaming plans can also use the service ahead of the summer vacation season.
The USIM Protection Service is designed to completely block unauthorized use of a customer's USIM card or eSIM on another device by a third party.
When customers subscribe to the USIM Protection Service, their USIM information and device information are managed in an integrated manner. Even if an illegally cloned USIM is inserted into another device, communication services such as calls and data on that device are immediately blocked, preventing damage from cloning.
Previously, customers could not use the USIM Protection Service while overseas roaming. However, after a technical upgrade on May 30, LG Uplus has made it possible to apply the USIM Protection Service regardless of roaming status.
Customers who subscribed before May 30 can also use the USIM Protection Service while overseas roaming without any additional application process. Customers who are currently overseas will receive the upgraded service upon returning to Korea.
Customers who wish to use the USIM Protection Service can apply through the 'Your U+' app, the official website, or the customer center. Customers using MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators) on the LG Uplus network can also subscribe to the service through their respective MVNO providers.
An LG Uplus representative stated, "By subscribing to the USIM Protection Service, crimes resulting from illegal USIM cloning can be prevented," and added, "We will continue to strengthen our information protection capabilities so that customers can use our services with peace of mind."
