The 'Y Gardening Crew' is a resident participation program where teams of three to five Yangcheon residents experience the entire process of garden creation. During the recruitment held in March, the program attracted significant interest, recording a competition rate of approximately 2.5 to 1. After document screening and a lottery, 20 final teams were selected.

Starting in April, participants received professional training that covered both theory and practice, including basic gardening theory, plant selection, and planting methods. Each team was then allocated a 9-square-meter plot to create their own mini garden. Until November, they will participate in a variety of programs, including monthly regular training sessions, independent gardening, matching with 'Garden Friends' volunteers and professional gardeners, open garden picnics, and an excellent garden contest.

To make gardening accessible even for beginners, the district provides plants and tools, as well as hands-on training necessary for garden creation and maintenance. In addition, Yangcheon District is expanding resident-participation themed gardens in small unused spaces throughout local neighborhoods. Last month, residents directly designed and created a 90-square-meter themed garden called 'Onjeong' at Nuri Children's Park in Mok 3-dong.

Yangcheon District Mayor Lee Gijae stated, "I hope that through garden creation projects led by residents, everyone can more closely and freely enjoy the leisure and happiness that gardens provide," adding, "We will continue to cherish every small space and increase the number of beautiful gardens created together with residents."
