The Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services is introducing the sommelier system, which is used to assess the quality and taste of wine, to Gyeonggimi (Gyeonggi rice).
On June 5, the Agricultural Research and Extension Services announced that it will recruit 30 trainees for the "Gyeonggimi Sommelier Pilot Training," the first rice-specialized education program organized by a metropolitan local government. Applications will be accepted until June 16.
The training will be conducted over two days, from July 1 to July 2, combining theory and practical sessions for a total of 16 hours.
The main curriculum includes: ▲ cultivation process and production technology of rice ▲ practical training on sensory evaluation of major Gyeonggi-do rice varieties ▲ hands-on training on cooking delicious rice.
Anyone interested in rice and cooked rice can participate in the training, and there is no tuition fee. Trainees will be selected by random draw from online applicants through the official website (naver.me/FaOvLNMY).
Participants who complete the entire course will receive a certificate of completion and will also have the opportunity to join the sensory evaluation panel at the Gyeonggimi Quality Assessment event.
Sung Jehoon, Director of the Gyeonggi-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services, said, "We hope to foster a rice consumption culture in which people can utilize the various rice varieties developed by Gyeonggi-do according to their individual tastes, preferences, and uses," adding, "We look forward to your interest and participation."
