Changwon Special City Wins "Excellence Award" in Traffic Administration Evaluation ... Recognized for Traffic Safety Changwon Special City Selected as an Excellent Institution for Traffic Administration Performance.

This award follows Changwon's selection as an excellent institution in the "Sustainable Transportation City Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in December 2024. The recognition highlights Changwon's transportation policies as exemplary in both sustainability and safety, and the city also secured a special adjustment grant of 100 million won.

Gyeongsangnam-do conducts annual evaluations of major transportation policies in cities and counties, with the aim of spreading advanced traffic culture and improving transportation convenience for residents. Outstanding local governments are rewarded based on these evaluations.

The evaluation covered the 2024 performance of 18 cities and counties in the province, using 20 quantitative indicators such as the Traffic Culture Index, measures to reduce traffic accidents, mobility convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups, and surveys of children's school routes. It also included qualitative assessments of traffic safety initiatives and cooperation in transportation policy.

Changwon received high marks in areas such as raising the Traffic Culture Index, reducing traffic accident fatalities, implementing outstanding traffic safety initiatives, and promoting policies to improve convenience for transportation-vulnerable groups. The city plans to further expand its highly rated transportation policies more efficiently, and will allocate the special adjustment grant secured as a reward to additional improvements in traffic safety facilities.

Lee Jonggeun, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau, stated, "This achievement is the result of all departments working together to spread advanced traffic culture awareness and realize transportation welfare for citizens." He added, "We will continue to prioritize traffic safety and make greater efforts to improve traffic culture and create a safer transportation environment."
