The Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office announced on June 4 that it recently held the "Accidental Director!" program, a one-day director experience event designed to provide leadership opportunities for junior public officials and foster a horizontal organizational culture through intergenerational communication.
This "Accidental Director!" program was conducted during the Gwangju Regional Veterans Affairs Office's main weekly business review meeting, where a junior staff member participated as the director for the day and presided over the meeting. The participant was responsible for leading the entire process from start to finish, listening to weekly business reports from each department, and gaining a comprehensive understanding of organizational operations through related questions and discussions.
After the meeting, there was a brief session for sharing impressions with colleagues. This provided a meaningful opportunity to exchange opinions and feedback on organizational culture improvement and communication methods from the perspective of the younger generation.
Director Kim Seokki stated, "This program, which allows junior staff to directly experience the role of director, is a valuable opportunity for them to develop a sense of responsibility and leadership." He added, "We will continue to strive to build an organizational culture based on mutual understanding and respect among members, rather than one-way communication."
