"I Have Learned the Weight of Words Through This Incident"
Actress Kim Hye Eun has apologized for her remarks criticizing writer Yoo Si Min. Kim Hye Eun had previously posted, and then deleted, a message apparently targeting Yoo Si Min in relation to his disparaging comments about Seol Nan Young, the wife of former People Power Party presidential candidate Kim Moon Soo.

On June 4, Kim Hye Eun posted a handwritten letter on her social networking service (SNS), stating, "I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt discomfort or distress because of the post I wrote on May 31."
She said, "I am leaving this message now, after all the ballot counting has finished, hoping not to interfere in any way with the time when the people's choice is being fully observed. I deeply reflect on the fact that I am entirely responsible for the disappointment and discomfort felt by those who have supported me for a long time, as well as by those who unexpectedly saw my post, and I am sincerely remorseful."
She continued, "As someone who has spoken publicly for a long time, I have once again learned the weight that words carry through this incident. I will not forget this realization and will strive to become an actress who is even more mindful and disciplined."
She also said, "From now on, as an actress, I will reflect more deeply on the impact my thoughts and expressions have on society, and I will conduct myself with greater caution and responsibility as a public figure. As a citizen who loves the Republic of Korea, I support a happier Korea, a more developed Korea, and a Korea that stands tall on the world stage more than anyone else."
Previously, Kim Hye Eun had posted, and then deleted, a message critical of Yoo Si Min. On her SNS, she wrote, "I don't think I've ever felt as ashamed of my Seoul National University degree as I did yesterday and today," and added, "I want to say sorry on his behalf."
This was apparently directed at Yoo Si Min, who graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University. Kim Hye Eun, who is an alumna of the Department of Vocal Music at Seoul National University, is Yoo Si Min's fellow alumna. On May 28, during a YouTube broadcast of 'Kim Eo Jun's Dasboeida,' Yoo Si Min sparked controversy when he mentioned Seol Nan Young, who graduated from Suncheon Girls' High School, was involved in the labor movement, and later married former candidate Kim Moon Soo, a graduate of Seoul National University's Business Administration Department. He said, "The position of a presidential candidate's spouse is a place Seol Nan Young could never reach in her life," and "This person is floating above the ground right now. In short, it means she is out of her mind," which led to criticism.
