Boseong County Confirms 604.5 Billion KRW Private Investment Ahead of KTX-Eum Era

Full-Scale Leap as a 'Southern Coastal Marine Tourism Hub'
Construction of a Residential Complex Town Integrating Tourism, Living, and Leisure

With the advent of the KTX-Eum era, Boseong County in South Jeolla Province is set to make a full-fledged leap forward as a central hub for marine tourism on the southern coast. The 'Boseong Raon Private Residential Complex Town,' which will be developed on a 495,000-pyeong (1,636,644 square meters) site in Jeonil-ri, Hoecheon-myeon, is drawing attention as a major turning point to improve residential conditions in Boseong and overcome the crisis of population decline.

This project is a large-scale initiative led by the private investment company Private Boseong Co., Ltd., which plans to invest a total of 604.5 billion KRW by 2030 to build an all-in-one complex town encompassing residential, resort, tourism, and leisure facilities.

The main facilities will include 190 detached houses (two stories), 35 resort-type condominiums (eight stories, 1,008 units), a community center equipped with an indoor swimming pool and health club, and a 27-hole golf course.

On January 10, Boseong County, South Jeolla Province, and Private Boseong Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement (MOU), and administrative procedures such as the drafting of the county management plan are currently progressing smoothly.

Once the KTX-Eum project is completed, it will be possible to reach Boseong from major cities nationwide?including the Seoul metropolitan area, Busan, Gwangju, and Suncheon?in around two hours. This is expected to serve as a decisive opportunity to usher in a 'new era for Boseong,' further solidifying its position as a marine leisure city.

In addition, the project is expected to gain further momentum in connection with other ongoing initiatives in the vicinity, such as the Yulpo Marine Complex Center, Yulpo Port (a candidate for designation as a national fishing port), and the Yulpo Promenade project, thereby strengthening the southern coastal marine tourism belt.

The Boseong Raon Private Residential Complex Town is projected to generate tangible economic benefits, including the direct employment of more than 150 people, attracting long-term stay tourists, expanding the local service industry, and revitalizing surrounding commercial districts. In particular, the impact is expected to be even greater as it aligns with nationwide residential trends such as the influx of retirees returning to rural areas, increasing demand for marine leisure, and rising demand for second homes.

Kim Cheolwoo, the county governor, stated, "With the opening of the KTX-Eum, the value and future of Boseong will change completely. We will create a premier residential complex town in Jeonil-ri, where the sea and forests are in harmony, combining residential, resort, tourism, and leisure facilities, making it a landmark for marine tourism on the southern coast that will attract both domestic and international visitors."

Son Cheonsu, chairman of Private Boseong Co., Ltd., also remarked, "Through a premium town that coexists with nature, we will contribute to regional development and do our utmost to make it a new landmark for tourism on the southern coast."
