On May 31, about 70 students from the National Pukyong University (PKNU) Student Volunteer Group and the central club 'Jeolyeonghoe' jointly participated in a mural painting volunteer activity near the main gate of the Yongdang Campus.
On this day, PKNU students filled a 50-meter section of the right-side wall along the 200-meter-long entrance road stretching from the main gate into the Yongdang Campus with paintings reminiscent of a sea-themed campus.
The students planned this mural painting as part of an environmental improvement initiative for residents and members who visit the campus for walks and other activities. As their first project this year, they painted a 50-meter section, and they plan to paint an additional 50 meters each year, with the goal of covering the entire campus entrance wall with murals by 2028.
The volunteer group was responsible for wall preparation, base work, initial painting, and assisting with coloring, while Jeolyeonghoe led the mural design, sketching, and painting.
Jeolyeonghoe is a central club at National Pukyong University that regularly visits various locations throughout Busan to carry out mural painting volunteer activities in collaboration with local organizations. The club willingly participated in this campus mural painting project as well.
Kim Geunhee, a sophomore in the Department of Nursing and the representative of the volunteer group, said, "It is rewarding to have the experience of decorating our campus ourselves by working together. I hope our efforts will be of some help to those who pass by this place."
