"Urban Regeneration, Operation Is the Answer"... Busan Urban Corporation Brings Together Public and Private Sectors

Joint Public-Private Seminar on Region-Led Urban Regeneration to Be Held on June 5
Strategies for Activating Post-Operation Management of Hub Facilities
Identifying the Role of Metropolitan Urban Regeneration

Busan Urban Corporation (BMC) will hold a policy seminar on June 5 at the Busan Eurasia Platform under the theme of "Region-Led Urban Regeneration and Public-Private Cooperation."


This seminar is co-hosted with the Architecture and Urban Research Institute (auri) and organized by the Korea Association for Urban Regeneration. The main agenda items include discussing strategies for post-operation management of hub facilities established through the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's urban regeneration projects, as well as redefining the roles at the metropolitan level in response to changes in urban regeneration policy.


Jinhee Kim, Team Leader at the Daejeon Urban Regeneration Support Center, will present on "Region-Led Urban Regeneration Projects: The Daejeon Case," while Eunho Jeon, Director at Moravian Co., will address "The Role of Intermediary Organizations in Public-Private Urban Regeneration Projects." The seminar will focus on field-based case studies and aims to propose practical models for public-private cooperation.


The session will be chaired by Jaewoo Lee, President of the Korea Association for Urban Regeneration. Panelists will include Hyeri Cho, Director of the Urban Regeneration Support Center at Busan Urban Corporation; Ina Jeong, Director of the Village Regeneration Center at the Architecture and Urban Research Institute; and Hyeseon Byun, Director of the Chungbuk Urban Regeneration Support Center. Together, they will explore concrete measures for implementing policy.


Changho Shin, President of Busan Urban Corporation, stated, "Starting with this seminar, we will fully launch urban regeneration education and capacity-building projects in accordance with relevant ordinances," adding, "We will strive for systematic project implementation based on the Special Act on Urban Regeneration and related ordinances."


Busan Urban Corporation plans to continue focusing on practical research and institutional development to enhance the sustainability of urban regeneration.
