Kim Taeheum, Governor of Chungnam Province, has called for follow-up measures to further enhance the achievements of his recent 'sales diplomacy' efforts in Indonesia and Australia.

At the department and bureau chiefs meeting held on the 4th in the provincial government main conference room, Governor Kim referred to his 7-night, 8-day business trip to Indonesia and Australia that began on May 25. He explained, "We promoted sales activities to expand the local presence of food, consumer goods, and industrial goods companies from our province, and also signed joint research agreements with Australian universities of technology in areas such as mobility and renewable energy."

He added, "Since we signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in administrative, cultural, and industrial fields with the Governor of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, we expect our entry into the Southeast Asian market to accelerate in the future." He requested, "I ask the relevant departments to ensure that the outcomes of this visit are managed so they lead to tangible results."

Regarding the designation of Seosan as the final candidate for the specialized distributed energy zone, he said, "With local power companies now able to directly supply electricity to businesses at lower costs, we expect to establish a new power supply system and strengthen the competitiveness of the petrochemical industry." He continued, "Since regulatory exemptions are expected to vitalize new energy businesses, I hope you will work to expand this to other cities and counties in the province."

He also emphasized the preliminary designation of Gongju National University, Soonchunhyang University, Yeonnam University, and Hanseo University as Glocal Universities last month, stating, "The province will take the lead in preparing and supporting all four universities so that they can be officially designated."

Governor Kim added, "As we expect the RISE project, including the Chungnam-style contract department currently being promoted by the province, to gain momentum, I hope you will work to establish a virtuous cycle that connects talent cultivation, employment and entrepreneurship, and settlement."

In addition, Governor Kim instructed the following: ▲each department and bureau should visit central government ministries within this month to ensure new government projects are reflected and to secure national funding; ▲when visiting cities and counties, provide detailed explanations of local issues raised during previous visits; ▲thorough preparation for heavy rainfall in the summer; ▲post-management of companies participating in export consultation meetings and the creation of opportunities to share best practices; ▲establish a differentiated environment to attract public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area; ▲establish and implement effective projects to respond to local extinction; ▲establish and implement a master plan to attract overseas Koreans; ▲shorten the construction period for sports facilities for the 2027 Chungcheong Universiade to be completed by the end of 2026; ▲conduct a comprehensive review of all carbon neutrality-related projects, including the ban on single-use cup usage; and ▲expand the area for direct seeding rice cultivation.
