For Seniors Aged 65 and Older,
Residents of High-Risk Facilities, and Others
The Hongseong County Health Center in South Chungcheong Province announced on June 4 that it is urging residents to follow COVID-19 vaccination and prevention guidelines in preparation for a possible summer outbreak.
According to the county health center, as the number of COVID-19 cases has recently increased in neighboring countries such as China, Thailand, and Singapore, there is a need to prepare for the possibility of a summer outbreak in Korea as well.
Accordingly, the center strongly recommended COVID-19 vaccination for high-risk groups, including seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, and residents of facilities vulnerable to infection.
Additionally, as the symptoms of common respiratory illnesses and COVID-19 are similar in the summer, the center advised anyone experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat to visit a nearby medical facility for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
An official from the county health center stated, "High-risk groups must receive vaccination, cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or sleeve when coughing, and make sure to wash their hands properly after coughing." The official also added, "Please help prevent infectious diseases by ventilating indoor spaces for at least 10 minutes every two hours."
