A Global Festival of Ironmen to Be Held in Goseong This June
Over 1,400 Athletes from 24 Countries to Compete, Conquering the Sea
The '2025 Ironman 70.3 Goseong' will take place across the entirety of Goseong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do from June 13 to 15, 2025.
This international sporting event is co-hosted by Goseong-gun and the Korea Triathlon Federation, and organized by the Korea Triathlon Federation and the Gyeongnam Triathlon Federation. A total of approximately 1,400 athletes from 24 countries will participate, completing a course that spans 113 kilometers.
The event will follow a WTC (World Triathlon Corporation) certified course consisting of a 1.9 km swim, a 90.1 km cycle, and a 21.1 km run. Participants will test the limits of their endurance and strength against the backdrop of Goseong's natural scenery. In particular, this marks the fifth edition of the Goseong Ironman 70.3, which has already received praise from domestic and international participants for its beautiful natural surroundings and well-maintained course.
On the first day, June 13, athlete registration and a race briefing will be held at Danghangpo Tourist Site starting at 1:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., a volunteer inauguration ceremony will take place at the indoor gymnasium, during which the Korea Triathlon Federation will express gratitude for the volunteers' efforts and wish for the event's success.
On the second day, June 14, participants will inspect the actual course and take part in an official swim training session from 2:00 p.m. for two hours.
The main race will be held on June 15, starting at 6:20 a.m., with swimming, cycling, and running in sequence. Top finishers will earn entry slots to the Ironman 70.3 World Championship.
For safe event management, Goseong-gun will implement strict traffic control on race day. Major roads from Danghangpo Samgeori to the Donghae-myeon area will be controlled by section starting at 6:30 a.m., and residents have been asked in advance for their understanding and cooperation.
This event symbolizes Goseong-gun's ambition to become a sports tourism city through its natural environment, infrastructure, and collaboration with local residents. The coastline, calm sea, and well-maintained road network provide optimal conditions, and the voluntary participation and service of the community have established the course itself as the 'Ironman Goseong' brand.
One participant shared, "When I come to Goseong, I feel at peace. The cycling course lets you ride with a refreshing breeze, and the cheers from the local residents are a great source of strength."
A participant from the previous event commented, "When I come to Goseong, I feel at peace. The sea is calm and gentle, and the cycling course is accompanied by a cool breeze. Above all, the cheers from the residents along the marathon section are a tremendous encouragement."
