Mayor Saehwan Bang stated, "It was a time to reflect on the precious value of a local community where everyone lives together, going beyond simply providing goods," and added, "I am deeply grateful for the warm actions of the Women's Association, which is leading the way in spreading a culture of sharing."
This event was launched after the Gyeonggi-do Women's Association Gwangju Branch was selected for the 2025 Gyeonggi-do Local Agricultural Products Food Security Support Project.
Side dishes will be delivered to 400 vulnerable households in the region over a total of five sessions. On this first occasion, carefully prepared braised chicken and seasoned vegetables were delivered to 80 households.
Fifteen members, including Branch President Misoon Yang, participated in the cooking. The finished side dishes were donated to the Gwangju Child Protection Agency and distributed to low-income families with children.
Branch President Misoon Yang said, "It is very meaningful to be selected for the project again this year, following last year, and to be able to share warmth with our neighbors. We will continue our efforts to ensure that the Women's Association can always reach out first to those in need."
Mayor Saehwan Bang added, "The city will further strengthen cooperation with the private sector to create a warm Gwangju where no citizen is left behind and everyone can share in happiness."
Meanwhile, last year the Gwangju Branch contributed to local welfare by supporting 300 households with agricultural and livestock products through the local agricultural products food support project.
