"May This Be the First Step Toward a New Era of K-Education"
Provincial Office of Education Proposes Five Key Policies for a 'Great Transformation in Education'
Kim Daejung, Superintendent of Jeonnam Education, congratulated President Lee Jaemyung on his election as the 21st President, emphasizing, "This election is more than just a change of administration; it is a miracle of democracy created by the people."
In a phone interview with Asia Economy on June 4, Superintendent Kim said, "I sincerely congratulate President Lee Jaemyung on his election and inauguration," adding, "This election was a victory for 'K-democracy' that amazed the world, and above all, it was a great moment when the people, as sovereigns, fully reclaimed their rights."
He continued, "This victory is not merely a political win; it is a historic milestone that has set the course for democracy in Korea. The people put into action the noble spirit of Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution: 'All power comes from the people.'"
Superintendent Kim further stated, "It is truly moving that we have managed to turn back the clock of democracy and history, which had been damaged in recent times. I sincerely hope that this change, brought about by the people, will become the starting point for healing confusion and conflict, and for moving toward a united Korea." He particularly stressed the importance of education for future generations, adding, "Education must play its role so that we can pass on a hopeful Korea to our children."
During this presidential election, the Provincial Office of Education proposed five key policies: improvement of the college admission system, fostering of regional national universities, introduction of a basic quota system for teachers and region-specific teacher training, nationwide expansion of student education allowances, establishment of K-Education Centers, and establishment of international vocational high schools.
Superintendent Kim said, "Now is a critical time for Korea to prepare for a major transformation, and education must be at the center of that change. I earnestly hope that these proposals for our children's future will be adopted as state affairs by the new administration, ushering in a true 'great transformation of Korean education.'"
He added, "Education changes the destiny of children and shapes the future of a nation. I hope this change will be the first step toward a new era of K-Education."
