Winning Teams of the Idea Contest Participate After On-Site Visits to Major Tourist Attractions
Presentations and Discussions to Explore Mid- to Long-Term Tourism Development and Revitalization Strategies
Hoengseong County in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Myunggi) and the Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Foundation (CEO Lee Jaesung) will host the "2025 Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Forum" on June 5 at the Hoengseong Culture Center presentation hall.
The Hoengseong Culture and Tourism Foundation has set the theme of this forum as "Mid- to Long-Term Tourism Development Strategies and Challenges for Hoengseong County." The event will feature presentations and discussions by experts, who will assess the current state of Hoengseong County's tourism industry and explore strategies for its mid- to long-term development and revitalization.
Prior to the main forum, teams from the Department of Culture and Tourism Management at Halla University, the Convergence Tourism Management major at Hallym University's Future Convergence School, and the Department of Tourism Management at Inha Technical College are scheduled to give presentations.
These teams were the winners of an idea proposal and contest held on April 9, during which they toured major tourist attractions in Hoengseong and developed proposals under the theme "Development of Specialized Content and Building a Tourism Industry Ecosystem in Hoengseong County."
The keynote speech will be delivered by Yoon Yoosik, Professor at Kyung Hee University and Chair of the Local Tourism Committee of the Korea Tourism Association. Kim Jinsung, CEO of Plan Issue Co., Ltd., will present on "Development and Promotion of Regional Specialized Content in Hoengseong County," while Professor Ryu Siyoung of Halla University will discuss "Building a Tourism Industry Ecosystem in Hoengseong County," offering their perspectives on these topics.
The comprehensive discussion that follows will be chaired by Kim Jaeho, Chair of the Division of the Korea Tourism Association. Panelists will include Professor Kim Youngguk of Kangwon National University, Professor Song Hwasung of Hallym University, Shin Yongkyu, Deputy General Manager at the Korea Tourism Organization, and Lim Seok, former CEO of the Gangjin County Culture and Tourism Foundation. They will engage in an in-depth discussion on Hoengseong County's mid- to long-term tourism strategies based on the presentations.
Lee Jaesung, CEO of the foundation, stated, "We will strive to gather diverse opinions from the local community, academia, and industry so that they can lead to practical tourism revitalization."
