via Kakao Business Seminar Website
On June 4, Kakao announced that it will conduct online training to strengthen the personal information protection capabilities of small and medium-sized businesses, in collaboration with the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
Since 2022, Kakao and KISA have been providing personal information protection training for Kakao Business partners and small and medium-sized businesses. This training is designed to help improve personal information management skills for small business operators, but anyone interested in personal information protection can participate, regardless of whether they are a business owner.
This year’s training places greater emphasis on addressing participants’ real questions by increasing the proportion of Q&A sessions compared to the previous year. The curriculum is based on various cases of personal information breaches, including those involving global IT companies, and will also cover practical response strategies.
The training will feature Lee Suhyun, a senior researcher from KISA’s Planning and Research Team, as a speaker. Lee will present on topics including: cases of personal information breach incidents; precautions to take when handling personal information at each stage of Kakao Business; and measures to take in the event of a personal information leak. After the training, there will be a real-time Q&A session where participants can freely ask questions about personal information and obtain relevant information.
The seminar will be held at 4:00 p.m. on June 4 through the Kakao Business Seminar website and will also be available for replay afterward. The Kakao Business Seminar is a platform that provides information and educational content on Kakao’s various business platforms, such as Biz Board, KakaoTalk Channel, and Talk Store.
A Kakao representative stated, “We have prepared training that can provide practical support so that our partners and small business operators can handle personal information safely,” and added, “We plan to continue offering tailored training and support to help businesses understand personal information-related laws and operate safely.”
