Minji Park Aims for Fifth Consecutive Victory in a Single Tournament

Chasing a Historic Record at the Celltrion Queens Masters
After Seoseoul and Seolhaewon, This Year at Seongmunan
"A Challenge for Five Consecutive Wins Is a Precious and Honorable Opportunity"

Minji Park is aiming for her fifth consecutive victory.

She will compete in the Celltrion Queens Masters on the KLPGA Tour, which will be held over three days starting June 6 at Seongmunan (par 72, 6,494 yards) in Wonju, Gangwon Province. Having won the title four years in a row from 2021 to last year, if Minji Park wins again this year, she will become the first player in KLPGA Tour history to achieve five consecutive victories in a single tournament.

Achieving five consecutive wins is a remarkable record. On the LPGA Tour, Annika Sorenstam (Sweden) held the Mizuno Classic title for five consecutive years from 2001 to 2005. On the PGA Tour, Tiger Woods (USA) achieved four consecutive wins at the Bay Hill Invitational from 2000 to 2003, and at the Buick Invitational from 2005 to 2008.

Minji Park has already won on two different courses. In 2021, when she claimed her first victory, the tournament was held at Seoseoul Country Club in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. From 2022 to last year, it took place at Seolhaewon in Yangyang, Gangwon Province. She said, "Rather than worrying too much about the changed course, I will focus on how to overcome the pressure and play my own game," adding, "Seongmunan has a lot of undulations, the fairways are narrow, and the greens are tricky."

Minji Park has recently shown a clear upward trend. She has finished in the top 10 in two consecutive tournaments, raising expectations for her title defense. If she wins, it will be her first victory in a year since this tournament last year, bringing her career total to 20 wins on the tour. She said, "Challenging for five consecutive wins in a single tournament is a precious and honorable opportunity that may never come again," and added, "Records are meant to be broken, so I will enjoy this moment, do my best, and compete as fiercely as I can."
