Korean Film Archive to Hold Special 20th Anniversary Screening of "The Aggressives"

Providing the Authentic Texture of Film with a 35mm Print

The Korean Film Archive announced on June 4 that it will hold a special screening of "The Aggressives" (2005) to mark its 20th anniversary at Cinematheque KOFA in Mapo-gu, Seoul, on June 21. The film will be presented in a 35mm film print, which is rare to see in the digital era, in order to convey the authentic texture and rhythm of the original movie.

Directed by Jung Jae-eun, the film spotlights the streets of Seoul in the early 2000s through aggressive inline skating. Breaking away from conventional commercial film grammar, it captures the youth culture, fashion, clubs, and underground music of the era with a free-spirited perspective and rhythmic visuals.

After the screening, director Jung, along with actors Chun Jung-myung and Lee Chun-hee, will participate in a conversation with the audience. They will share insights into the production process as well as the atmosphere and unique sensibility of youth in the 2000s.

The Korean Film Archive stated, "This event will serve as an opportunity to revive the sensibility of a generation and the spirit of an era that are easily forgotten, through the materiality and temporality of film as a medium." Admission is free.
