The kickoff briefing was attended by Paju Mayor Kim Kyungil, relevant national and municipal department heads, and advisory professor Lee Kyungrak. During the event, the research agency presented its project plan, and participants discussed the necessity of promoting a Paju-style public nursing home and the direction of the project.

Through this research project, Paju City plans to select the location and scale of the municipal nursing home and thoroughly review its operational system by the end of this year, in order to conduct a feasibility study and establish a basic plan.

The research project began at the end of May and will be conducted over four months. Its scope includes: developing a standard model for a Paju-style nursing home for the elderly; conducting policy, technical, and economic feasibility reviews; developing a project implementation system and analyzing baseline conditions; investigating exemplary cases in Korea and abroad; and holding public hearings for local residents.

Mayor Kim Kyungil stated, "In the super-aged society we now face, it is essential to establish a dignified retirement and a reliable care system, so that all citizens can enjoy a happy and dignified old age. I hope that relevant departments and the research agency will work together to ensure that Paju's public nursing home not only expands facilities but also transforms the existing long-term care service framework and leads in institutional innovation."

Based on the results of this research project, Paju City aims to complete preliminary administrative procedures in 2026 and then begin construction.
