Promoting the Importance of Environmental Protection
in the Heart of New York and London
On June 5, to mark 'World Environment Day,' LG Electronics has launched initiatives to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection. The company is screening videos on outdoor billboards installed in major cities around the world, urging the reduction of indiscriminate plastic use, and is also conducting a variety of environmental protection activities at its domestic and overseas sites, including tree planting and nature clean-up campaigns.
LG Electronics announced on June 4 that, until June 13 (local time), it will be screening a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) video on its outdoor billboards at Times Square in New York, USA, and Piccadilly Circus in London, UK.

The video, produced to commemorate World Environment Day, is themed 'Ending Plastic Pollution.' It highlights efforts by individuals to reduce indiscriminate plastic use and to transform waste plastics into eco-friendly materials such as recycled fibers. The video emphasizes that restoring marine and terrestrial ecosystems requires everyone's attention and action.
This event is part of the 'LG Hope Screen' initiative, which LG Electronics has been operating since 2011. The company continues to offer free screenings of public interest videos produced by international organizations and NGOs on its large billboards at Times Square in New York and Piccadilly Circus in London.
In addition, LG Electronics has designated World Environment Day as 'LG Global Volunteer Day,' and plans to carry out a variety of environmental protection activities both domestically and internationally.
This year, employees at 28 business sites worldwide will participate in volunteer activities. The subsidiaries in Indonesia and Kazakhstan will conduct tree planting events, while those in Singapore and Taiwan will carry out nature clean-up activities at beaches and parks near their offices. In April, the company held a 'Waste Electronics Collection Campaign' for employees at LG Science Park in Magok, Seoul, collecting a total of 2,850 kilograms of waste electronic products.
In particular, in Korea, LG Electronics will hold the 'E-Sunhwan Festival,' an eco-friendly home appliance promotion event, in collaboration with 'E-Sunhwan Governance,' the only waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling association in the country. The company will provide Naver and KakaoPay points as a rebate to customers who newly subscribe to 'E-Sunhwan Excellent Products,' which have been recognized for their outstanding recyclability, until the end of this month.
Yoon Dae-sik, Executive Vice President of External Relations at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to make sustained efforts to build a sustainable life together with our customers."
