AmCham Congratulates President Lee Jae Myung on Election, Hopes to Strengthen Korea-U.S. Economic Partnership

"Lee is a visionary, his leadership has matured"

AmCham (the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea) congratulated President Lee Jae Myung on his election, stating, "We look forward to working closely with the new administration to further strengthen the Korea-U.S. economic partnership."


James Kim, Chairman of AmCham, said in a statement on the 4th, "On behalf of the American business community, I sincerely congratulate President Lee," adding, "Under President Lee's new leadership, the Korean economy is poised for a new leap forward, and with the launch of the Trump 2.0 administration in the United States, Korea-U.S. relations have reached a significant turning point. We will continue to strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries and serve as a trusted bridge as economic partners."


He went on to say, "I have had several opportunities to meet President Lee in person, and what I have always felt through these meetings is that he is truly a visionary."


He also stated, "His keen insight into the future, open attitude toward innovation, and unwavering commitment to enhancing Korea's global competitiveness have always left a deep impression on me. As I have watched his leadership mature over time, I have been greatly inspired. I am confident that under President Lee's leadership, Korea will emerge as a hub for technology, innovation, and sustainable growth."

AmCham expressed its expectation that President Lee's leadership will serve as a catalyst for Korea to become a center for advanced technology industries and green growth. AmCham also announced its commitment to continuously support the enhancement of Korea's long-term economic competitiveness by fostering a predictable and fair regulatory environment.


In addition, AmCham expressed hope that the '2025 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit' to be held in Korea this October will further strengthen Korea's global leadership and deepen Korea-U.S. economic cooperation. AmCham pledged to do its utmost, in close cooperation with the new administration, to ensure that this summit becomes a platform for expanding regional cooperation, strengthening supply chain resilience, and promoting inclusive economic growth.


AmCham emphasized, "We will continue to engage in substantive policy dialogue with the new administration, expand trade and investment opportunities between the two countries, jointly address global challenges, and continue to serve as a trusted economic partner for sustainable prosperity."
