EU Expects to Deepen Strategic Partnership as a Key Ally

The European Union (EU) stated on June 4 (local time) that it looks forward to deepening its strategic partnership with President Lee Jaemyung, who was elected as the 21st President, as a key ally.

Antonio Costa, President of the European Council, made this statement in a congratulatory message posted on X (formerly Twitter) about 40 minutes after President Lee's official term began on this day.

President Costa emphasized, "We share a common commitment to democracy, human rights, and the rule of law, and we consider Korea's role on the global stage to be extremely important."
