Kim Dongyeon Congratulates President Lee Jaemyung on Election Victory...Pledges Cooperation for Success of Fourth Democratic Government

Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, congratulated President Lee Jaemyung on his election victory.

Governor Kim, in a post uploaded to his social networking service (SNS) around midnight on the 3rd, when Lee Jaemyung's victory was all but confirmed by broadcasters, wrote, "I sincerely congratulate President Lee Jaemyung on his election," and added, "The people have clearly demonstrated their determination to bring a complete end to the rebellion with the highest voter turnout in 28 years."

He continued, "Now is the time for economic recovery and national unity," and expressed his expectations by saying, "Although there are many difficult challenges both at home and abroad, I have no doubt that the Lee Jaemyung administration will unite the hearts of the people and restore the damaged economy and livelihoods."

Furthermore, he pledged, "I will also do my utmost for the success of President Lee Jaemyung and the fourth democratic government."

Meanwhile, President Lee Jaemyung's official term began at 6:21 a.m. on the 4th. The National Election Commission convened a full committee meeting at 6 a.m. that day and officially confirmed Lee Jaemyung of the Democratic Party of Korea as the president-elect based on the results of the 21st presidential election.
