Hapcheon County Begins Full-Scale Use of Reusable Products to Reduce Disposables

Based on the Disposable Products Reduction Ordinance
Taking Action in the Public Sector First

Hapcheon County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on June 4 that it has officially begun implementing the use of reusable containers in the public sector, starting with an executive meeting.

This measure was carried out in accordance with the "Plan to Reduce the Use of Disposable Products," which was established based on the "Hapcheon County Ordinance on Reducing the Use of Disposable Products" enacted at the end of last year, the "Guidelines for Reducing the Use of Disposable Products in Public Institutions," and the "Five-Minute Free Speech at the 289th Hapcheon County Council Extraordinary Session."

Hapcheon County Begins Full-Scale Use of Reusable Products to Reduce Disposables Expanded Executive Meeting Hosted by Hapcheon County Governor.

The plan includes practical tasks such as: prohibiting the purchase of disposable products; banning the bringing of disposable items such as plastic cups into government buildings; requiring the use of reusable containers at events and meetings; and promoting the use of personal cups (tumblers).

Kim Yuncheol, the county governor, stated, "Using reusable containers instead of disposable products may be inconvenient at first, but if everyone works together, it can certainly become a part of our culture. Public institutions will take the lead so that the culture of using reusable containers can spread throughout the county."
