Presidential Election Turnout Reaches 22.9% at Noon, Surpasses 10 Million Voters

Turnout Highest in Daegu, Lowest in Jeonnam

As of noon on June 3, the voter turnout for the 21st presidential election was provisionally tallied at 22.9%.

According to the website of the National Election Commission, as of noon on this day, 10,150,156 out of a total of 44,391,871 eligible voters had cast their ballots.

This is 2.6 percentage points higher than the turnout at the same time during the 20th presidential election in 2022 (20.3%), but 1.6 percentage points lower than the turnout during the 19th presidential election in 2017 (24.5%).

By region, Daegu recorded the highest turnout at 28.7%, while Jeonnam had the lowest at 15.0%.

During early voting held on May 29 and 30, Daegu had the lowest early voting rate among metropolitan governments at 25.63%, but in the main vote today, it has continued to show a high turnout from the beginning.

In contrast, Gwangju (16.3%), Jeonnam, and Jeonbuk (15.9%), which recorded high early voting rates, are now showing the lowest turnout nationwide.

Turnout rates in other regions are as follows: Seoul 21.9%, Busan 22.8%, Incheon 22.7%, Daejeon 24.1%, Gyeonggi Province 23.7%, Sejong 21.7%, Ulsan 23.7%, Gyeongbuk 26.1%, Gyeongnam 24.7%, Gangwon 23.2%, and Jeju 21.2%.

The turnout for early voting, overseas voting, shipboard voting, and absentee voting will be included in the total turnout starting from the turnout announced at 1 p.m.

The voter turnout published every hour on the National Election Commission’s website is based on the turnout collected nationwide 10 minutes prior to the hour.
