First Specialized Complex for Dyeing and Processing Industries in Northern Gyeonggi
National Funding Expected to Strengthen Regional Textile Industry Competitiveness
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on June 2 that the Yangmun General Industrial Complex has been designated as a '2025 Specialized Complex for Root Industries' by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
Since dyeing and processing industries were officially added to the root industries in 2023, this marks the second such designation in the Seoul metropolitan area after the Banwol Dyeing Complex in Ansan, and the first case in northern Gyeonggi Province.
The 'Specialized Complex for Root Industries' is a government-funded support program aimed at clustering and advancing root industry companies. It is expected to accelerate the implementation of long-standing projects at the Yangmun Industrial Complex, such as improving the joint wastewater treatment facility, introducing energy-saving management systems, and identifying joint innovation projects.
Currently, 43 companies related to textile and dyeing processing are located in the Yangmun Industrial Complex, making it a key hub for Pocheon's textile industry.
Baek Younghyeon, Mayor of Pocheon, stated, "The designation of this specialized complex will resolve long-standing projects of the Yangmun Industrial Complex and serve as a crucial turning point for advancing and transitioning the local textile and dyeing processing industries to eco-friendly practices. We will actively support Pocheon City in establishing itself as the central city for the textile industry in northern Gyeonggi Province."
