Suspected Collusion Lasting Ten Years Since 2012
Hanssem: "We Will Fully Cooperate with the Prosecutors' Investigation"
Prosecutors have conducted a search and seizure at Hanssem on suspicion of collusion in the system furniture bidding process that allegedly lasted for over a decade.
According to the legal community on June 2, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office sent investigators to Hanssem's headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, to carry out the search and seizure on this day. It is known that, in addition to Hanssem, some other furniture companies suspected of participating in the collusion were also included in the search and seizure that has been ongoing since last week.
Previously, in February, the Fair Trade Commission imposed a total fine of 18.3 billion won on 20 furniture companies, including Hanssem, and referred four companies?Hanssem, Dongsungsa, Spacemax, and Jamart?to the prosecution, judging that they were deeply involved in the collusion.
According to the Fair Trade Commission, these companies were found to have agreed in advance on the successful bidder and bid prices in a total of 190 system furniture bidding processes ordered by 16 construction companies from February 2012 to November 2022. The sales generated through this collusion amounted to approximately 332.4 billion won.
A Hanssem representative stated, "We will faithfully cooperate with the prosecution's investigation."
