Proclaims Vision for "First Year of Gwangjin Re-Creation" Kim Kyungho, head of Gwangjin District Office, said ahead of the opening ceremony of the new office building, "Based on the development foundation established over the past three years, we will lead changes that can be tangibly felt." Provided by Gwangjin District Office.

After about a month-long relocation period that began on April 18, Gwangjin District completed its move to the new office building located at 400 Achasan-ro, in front of Exit 3 of Guui Station. The new building has a total floor area of 37,685 square meters and rises 18 stories above ground. It is situated within an advanced mixed-use complex that includes a hotel, office facilities, and a shopping mall. Various amenities for residents, such as a book cafe, kids’ zone, and exhibition space, have also been established, raising expectations for citizen-centered administrative services.

The opening ceremony is intended to mark a new leap forward for Gwangjin District following the relocation to the new building, as well as to declare the vision for the “First Year of Gwangjin Re-Creation.” The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a traditional pungmul performance, followed by a pine tree planting ceremony and an unveiling ceremony with key guests and representatives of district residents. All proceedings will be broadcast live on a 352-inch large multi-vision screen in the main auditorium on the fifth floor of the new building. During the pre-ceremony events, there will also be a contrabass performance by district PR ambassador Seong Minje.

The main ceremony will open with a congratulatory performance titled “A New Start, A Vigorous Voyage” by the Little Angels Art Troupe, who serve as district PR ambassadors. This will be followed by the screening of a commemorative video, a progress report on the construction of the new building, presentation of plaques of appreciation, a commemorative speech by the district mayor, and the proclamation of the “First Year of Gwangjin Re-Creation” vision. Notably, a vision performance featuring a 30-year-old youth symbolizing the district’s 30th anniversary will provide a unique highlight.

The 30th Gwangjin District Residents’ Day Awards Ceremony will also be held on the same day. Outstanding residents will be selected and awarded in eight categories, including community development, donations and volunteering, sports promotion, and economic revitalization, making it an occasion to enhance residents’ pride in their community.

A variety of performances and exhibitions have been prepared as well. Professor Kang Sinju of Baekseok Arts University and Miracle Voice, a vocal group composed of singers with developmental disabilities, will perform. In addition, the first-floor lobby will feature an exhibition of records documenting the history of Gwangjin District Office and works by local artists. Various programs, including promotional booths for each department and a photo zone, will also be available.

Kim Kyungho, head of Gwangjin District Office, said, “I am very pleased and honored to be the first district mayor in the new office building. It is important to make a good start in planning for Gwangjin’s future. Based on the development foundation established over the past three years, we will lead changes that can be tangibly felt.”

Meanwhile, the new building opening ceremony will be broadcast live on the Gwangjin District Office YouTube channel.
