NYT: "Trump Has Long Shared False Claims"
US President Donald Trump shared a conspiracy theory on his social networking service (SNS) claiming that his predecessor, President Joe Biden, had been executed.
According to NBC and the New York Times (NYT) on June 1 (local time), President Trump shared a post containing this claim on his own SNS platform, Truth Social, the previous day. The post asserted that "Biden was already executed in 2020, and the current figure is merely the product of cloning and robotic technology."
NBC reported, "The White House did not respond to questions about why President Trump shared this post or whether he actually believes that former President Biden was executed in 2020."
President Trump has previously shared conspiracy theories. In 2012, he claimed that former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States and demanded that Obama release his birth certificate. In addition, during a presidential debate in September of last year, he was criticized for stating, "Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are eating cats or their neighbors' pets."
Regarding this, the New York Times pointed out, "President Trump has blamed former President Biden for various social issues and has criticized his mental capacity." The report also noted, "Among these are baseless claims that Biden's aides have implemented policies or announced pardons using an Autopen (an automatic electronic signature device) without Biden's knowledge."
The New York Times stated, "President Trump has long shared baseless stories online," and added, "Even within the White House, he has encouraged false claims or kept individuals who support such claims close to him." The report continued, "According to statistics from the Washington Post, President Trump's first four-year term was marked by false statements. He made a total of 30,573 falsehoods, averaging 21 lies per day."
