Honam University announced on June 2 that Professor Eunseong Jeong from the Department of Tourism Management was appointed as an advisory professor at the Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters of the Bank of Korea on June 1.
The Bank of Korea appoints academic experts from the region as advisory professors to enhance in-depth understanding of the local economy and improve the effectiveness of policy formulation. With this appointment, Professor Jeong will be responsible for analyzing economic trends in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, providing policy advice, and supporting research and investigations over the next year.
Professor Jeong is an expert in various fields such as tourism development, smart tourism, and urban planning. He has actively served as a curriculum review committee member for tourism, leisure, and food service education at the Ministry of Education, as chairman of the Gwangju City Festival Promotion Committee, as a member of the Urban Planning Committee of Jeonnam Province, and as a patent screening committee member for bonded area tourism infrastructure at the Korea Customs Service.
Professor Jeong stated, "It is an honor to be able to add the voice of the region to the central bank's policies for the stability and development of the local economy," and added, "In particular, I will faithfully serve as a bridge so that the tourism industry can contribute to revitalizing the regional economy."
