Korea GM Exports 48,000 Units in May, Up 20% from Previous Month

Korea GM's export volume in May 2025 reached approximately 48,000 units, marking an increase of about 20% compared to the previous month. This recovery comes after the U.S. government imposed a 25% tariff on Korean-made imported vehicles in April. Although Korea GM's monthly export volume had dropped below 40,000 units as of March, it rebounded in May to nearly 50,000 units.

On June 2, Korea GM announced that it sold a total of 50,029 units in the global market during May. The company recorded 1,408 units in the domestic market and 48,621 units in exports, surpassing 50,000 units in monthly sales for the first time since December of last year.

The Chevrolet Trax Crossover (including derivative models) sold 32,232 units, a 1.5% increase compared to the same month last year, setting the highest monthly overseas sales since December of last year. The Chevrolet Trailblazer (including derivative models) accounted for 16,389 units exported.

Domestic sales in May stood at 1,408 units, representing a decrease of about 40% compared to the same month last year, continuing a sluggish trend.

Gustavo Colossi, Vice President of Sales, Service, and Marketing, stated, "The Chevrolet Trax Crossover and Trailblazer, both of which were developed and led through every process at GM's Korean operations, continue to receive positive responses in the global market." He added, "In June, we will make every effort to boost domestic sales by offering a wide range of customer benefits, such as installment programs and cash incentives."
