On June 2, AStory announced that filming for the Japanese version of "The Kidnapping Day" began locally last month. The show is scheduled to premiere on TV Asahi on July 8.

Starring Yoon Kyesang, "The Kidnapping Day" is a comic thriller drama that tells the story of a clumsy kidnapper and an eleven-year-old genius girl working together in a unique partnership. The series ended its run to great popularity in October 2023.

The script for the Japanese version is written by Kenta Ushio, known for dramas such as "Hanzawa Naoki" and "Outskirts Rocket Ghost." The drama is directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa, who previously directed "When the Stars Fall at Night." The cast includes actors Takumi Saito and Yuno Nagao, among others.

This is the second time "The Kidnapping Day" has been remade. Previously, AStory agreed to co-produce a UK version with Studio Hamburg UK (SHUK), the overseas subsidiary of Studio Hamburg Production Group (SHPG), one of Europe's largest media groups. The script is currently being adapted.

An official from AStory stated, "Starting with stable success in the emotionally similar Japanese market, we are actively expanding our content and intellectual property (IP) business in Europe as well."
