According to Hanwha Aerospace on June 2, Michael Coulter, CEO of Hanwha Global Defense, attended the Shangri-La Dialogue and held meetings with senior defense officials from key countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, Malaysia, and Finland, as well as high-level representatives from global defense companies including BAE Systems and Palantir. They discussed ways to expand cooperation, including strategic defense partnerships.

The Shangri-La Dialogue, held for two days starting May 31, is the largest annual security conference in Asia, organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in the United Kingdom. Defense ministers, senior military officials, and leaders from academia and industry gather to discuss security issues in the Indo-Pacific region.

Hanwha explained that participating in this event is significant because it shows that Korean defense companies are beginning to be recognized as contributors to the global security discourse, going beyond simply exporting weapon systems.

Michael Coulter, CEO of Hanwha Global Defense, stated, "We will proactively respond to changes in the global security environment and strengthen our responsible role as a defense company," adding, "We aim to expand strategic partnerships on a global scale beyond the Indo-Pacific and establish ourselves as a key pillar of sustainable security cooperation."
