Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency Provides 300,000 Won in Transportation Support to 100 Youths Preparing for Independence

Daegu Happiness Promotion Social Service Agency (Chairman Bae Gicheol) announced on June 2 that it has provided transportation cards to 100 youths preparing for independence as part of its 2025 transportation welfare project, "Together to Daegu." This initiative was designed to support the local settlement and stable independent living of these young people.

"Together to Daegu" is a citizen welfare project that uses long-term unused prepaid balances on transportation cards to support transportation costs for transportation-vulnerable groups. The project is being carried out through a partnership between Daegu Metropolitan City, iM UPay, and Daegu Community Chest of Korea, with Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency operating the project under commission.

This project targeted youths aged 18 or older residing in Daegu who are preparing for independence, specifically those whose protection ended within the past three years or will end by December this year at child care facilities, group homes, or foster care facilities, as well as those under the case management of the Daegu Youth Independence Support Center. A total of 100 recipients were selected based on recommendations from the Daegu City Education and Youth Division. Each recipient will receive transportation cards three times a year, with 100,000 won provided each time, totaling 300,000 won per person.

Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency's transportation support project for youths preparing for independence has been running for five years. Recently, the support has been expanded not only to youths whose protection has ended but also to those with extended protection. Through this, the agency is improving transportation accessibility for vulnerable youths in the region and strengthening the social safety net.

Meanwhile, Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency is also running the "All Ta" event to promote carbon neutrality and encourage the use of public transportation. Daegu citizens aged 14 or older can participate by using buses or urban rail at least twice a month and applying through the agency's website. Each month, 440 participants are selected by lottery to receive transportation cards worth 50,000 won.

Bae Gicheol, Chairman of Daegu Happiness Promotion Agency, stated, "We hope this will provide practical help in the lives of youths preparing for independence. We will continue to expand support for marginalized youth groups and contribute to realizing social value for the happiness of Daegu citizens."
