The Platform City project is a large-scale public development initiative jointly promoted by Gyeonggi Province, Yongin City, Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation (GH), and Yongin Urban Corporation. The project covers approximately 2,729,000 square meters across Bojeong-dong, Mabuk-dong, and Singal-dong in Giheung-gu, as well as Sanghyeon-dong and Pungdeokcheon-dong in Suji-gu. After receiving approval for the implementation plan in December last year, site development construction began in three sections in April this year. The project area is divided into three zones: GH is responsible for zones 1 and 2, while Yongin Urban Corporation is in charge of zone 3.

This briefing was organized to preemptively review and address potential inconveniences to residents during the construction process and to seek solutions to traffic congestion issues.

During the meeting, the city emphasized to the project operators the importance of encouraging participation by local construction companies to help revitalize the regional economy. The city also stressed the need to develop measures to alleviate traffic inconveniences for citizens caused by the construction. Additionally, the city requested the establishment of a communication system with local residents near the site to ensure advance notice and consultation regarding issues that may arise during construction. The city also called for plans to maintain and repair public facilities within the project area and to prepare for heavy rainfall during the summer season.

The city plans to form and operate a "practical task force (TF) for infrastructure facilities," which will include both city officials and project operators, to conduct detailed consultations on the design and construction of infrastructure facilities to be acquired after completion of the complex.

Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin, stated, "Platform City is a major project that will have a significant impact on the future of Yongin, as many companies in advanced industries such as semiconductors are investing and complex cultural spaces such as residential areas, hotels, and convention facilities will be established. We will do our utmost to develop thorough measures to ensure that citizens do not experience inconvenience during the construction process."
