Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office to Conduct Chemical Substances Statistical Survey

According to the Environmental Office on June 2, this survey is conducted every two years to identify the types, uses, and quantities of chemical substances handled in Korea. The collected data will be used as basic information for the prevention of and response to chemical accidents.

The targeted business sites must fill out and submit the survey form for the 2024 performance year through the 'Chemical Substances Control Act Civil Service 24' system. The submission period varies by industry and business size, ranging from the end of June to the end of August.

All businesses handling chemical substances, including those in the manufacturing sector, are subject to the survey regardless of annual handling volume. For the mining and construction sectors, businesses are subject to the survey if they handle 100 kg or more of hazardous chemical substances or 1,000 kg or more of general chemical substances. The submitted data will undergo supplementation and verification procedures and will be disclosed through the Chemical Substances Integrated Information System in the first half of next year.

To ensure the smooth progress of the survey, the Environmental Office will provide two in-person training sessions for the targeted business sites in Gwangju (June 17) and Yeosu (July 4), and will also offer six online training sessions through the YouTube channel 'Chemical Substances Safety Institute.' Training materials and guidelines can be downloaded from the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office and the Chemical Substances Control Act Civil Service 24 websites.
