Donga University to Hold String Ensemble Concert... Connecting with Citizens through the Sounds of Strings

Donga University (President Lee Haewoo) will hold the '2025 Donga String Ensemble Concert' at 7:30 p.m. on June 5 at Daw Hall, Bumin Campus.

Celebrating its 41st edition this year, the concert will feature chamber music and string orchestra performances led by string majors from the Department of Music at the College of Arts and Physical Education. The event is a free concert with all seats by invitation, open to the citizens of Busan.

The first part of the concert will showcase chamber music ensembles with various instrumentations, performed mainly by third- and fourth-year students. In the second part, string majors from all academic years will join the faculty to form a string orchestra for collaborative performances.

Student performers include violinists Park Subin, Noh Sojin, and Kim Jinseon; violist Kim Sohee; and cellists Jang Gaon, Kim Hansol, and Park Sujin. They will present a wide repertoire ranging from classical to modern works by composers such as Beethoven, Dvorak, Mozart, and Respighi. The performances will be accompanied by musical commentary to help audience members who may not be familiar with classical music better understand the pieces.

Cellist Professor Lee Myungjin and violinist Adjunct Professor Lee Eunok will also join the stage, performing alongside the students. Professor Lee will serve as both music director and commentator, leading the overall concert.

Professor Lee graduated at the top of his class from the Essen National University of Music in Germany and has also served as a host for the Busan MBC classical music program. Professor Lee Eunok is currently the associate concertmaster of the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra and is actively engaged in performances and mentoring young musicians both in Korea and abroad.

A Donga University official stated, "This meaningful concert combines students' practical skills in their major with ensemble experience. It will offer high-quality classical performances to the public and provide students with valuable hands-on stage experience."
