Main Voting for Presidential Election Tomorrow...Winner Expected to Be Revealed Around Midnight

Voting from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If the gap between candidates is large, results expected before midnight

The main voting for the 21st presidential election will take place on the 3rd, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Main Voting for Presidential Election Tomorrow...Winner Expected to Be Revealed Around Midnight On the 22nd of last month, election banners for Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party, Kim Moon-soo of the People Power Party, Lee Jun-seok of the Reform New Party, and Kwon Young-guk of the Democratic Labor Party were hung on a road in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul.

According to the National Election Commission on the 2nd, the presidential election campaign, which began at midnight on the 12th, will end at midnight tonight. Lee Jaemyung of the Democratic Party, Kim Moonsoo of the People Power Party, Lee Junseok of the Reform New Party, and Kwon Youngguk of the Democratic Labor Party have fiercely competed over the past 22 days. Hwang Kyoan, who ran as an independent, announced his withdrawal from the race on the 1st and declared his support for Kim Moonsoo.

Lee Jaemyung plans to hold his 'finale rally' at Yeouido Park in Seoul on this day, while Kim Moonsoo will make his last appeal for support at Seoul City Hall Plaza. The main voting will be held on the 3rd from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 14,295 polling stations nationwide. Unlike early voting, voters must cast their ballots at their designated polling stations near their place of residence.

It is expected that the outline of the presidential election results will emerge before midnight, but the new president is likely to be revealed around 8 p.m., when the exit polls from the three major terrestrial broadcasters are announced. Unlike general elections, exit polls for the presidential election are highly accurate.

If there is a significant difference in the vote percentages among the major candidates, it is expected that the winner will be determined earlier during the ballot counting. In the 19th presidential election in 2017, which was a snap election, news that Moon Jaein of the Democratic Party was likely to win was reported around 10 p.m. on election day.
