On June 2, the Gwangju Metropolitan Government and the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency announced that they are recruiting local companies to participate in the 'Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2026)', which will be held in Las Vegas, United States, from January 6 to 9 next year. Applications will be accepted until the 20th.

The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest exhibition for electronics and information and communication technology (ICT) convergence, held every January in Las Vegas. The event attracts buyers and investors from around the globe, as it offers a comprehensive view of the latest technologies and trends in future industries.

The city plans to organize and operate the Gwangju Pavilion with a total of 17 companies, including those participating in the Gwangju Joint Pavilion and the Korea Startup Promotion Agency's 'K-Startup' integrated pavilion. This is an increase of two companies compared to this year.

The recruitment targets are local small and medium-sized enterprises in the fields of new industries, innovative technology, and artificial intelligence. The city will provide comprehensive support to the selected companies, including exhibition booth fees, airfare, logistics costs, interpretation fees, as well as application fees and consulting for the 'CES Innovation Awards'.

In addition, to strengthen the overseas expansion capabilities of participating companies, the city will offer practical marketing training and programs to enhance their ability to respond to global exhibitions, thereby supporting the creation of tangible results.

Companies wishing to participate can apply via email to the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency between the 13th and 20th. For more details, companies can visit the agency's website or contact the Startup Leap Team at the Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency.

Since 2023, when Mayor Kang Ki-jung personally led local companies to participate in 'CES 2023' for the first time, the city has continued to join CES every year with local companies, expanding their foundation for overseas expansion.

In particular, at 'CES 2025' held this year, 15 local companies participated and showcased Gwangju's technological prowess to the global market. During the exhibition, 6,300 visitors experienced Gwangju's innovative technologies, and the companies achieved 371 export consultations with overseas buyers, amounting to $57 million in potential deals.

Six companies from Gwangju, including Ghostpass Co., received CES Innovation Awards, earning global recognition for their technological capabilities and innovation. Among them, Ghostpass Co. won the 'Best Innovation Award' for its artificial intelligence-based security and payment solution utilizing biometric information.

Joo Jaehee, Director of Economic and Startup Affairs, stated, "CES is the best opportunity for local companies with technological capabilities to enter the global market. The city is fully supporting these companies' challenges, and we hope that many companies will participate and prove their growth potential on the world stage."
