Yeongju City to Open 32nd Sobaek Arts Festival on June 5... 11 Days of Performances and Exhibitions

The 32nd Sobaek Arts Festival, hosted by Yeongju City and organized by the Yeongju branch of the Federation of Artistic and Cultural Organizations of Korea (President Kim Jindong), will be held for 11 days from June 5 to June 15 at the Yeongju Civic Center and Seocheon riverside park.


This year's festival will feature performances and exhibitions by eight local arts associations, including music, dance, theater, entertainment arts, Korean traditional music, literature, fine arts, and photography, offering a variety of programs.

The opening ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th at the Yeongju Civic Center. The event will begin with a pre-ceremony performance by local singer Kim Jeongrim, followed by the mixed choir Nabimul Singers and guest singers Ryu Jigwang and Choi Yejin.


Afterwards, daily performances will continue, including the play "You Are Spring" (June 6), "Night of Favorite Songs" (June 7), "Happiness Concert" (June 8), the Korean traditional music performance "Pungnyu" (June 13), and the "Yeongju Dance Festival" (June 14). All performances will be held at the Civic Center performance hall.


There will also be exhibition events. From June 5 to June 15, the Literary Association's "Street Poetry Exhibition" will take place under Jeminnu at the Seocheon riverside park, while the Civic Center exhibition hall will host the Fine Arts Association members' exhibition for 69 days and the Photographers Association members' exhibition for 1,215 days, respectively.


Lee Jaehun, acting mayor of Yeongju City, said, "I hope the Sobaek Arts Festival will continue to grow as a cultural festival where local artists and citizens come together," adding, "I look forward to it becoming an event that brings vitality to the daily lives of our citizens."


The Sobaek Arts Festival is Yeongju's representative comprehensive arts festival, which has continued for more than 30 years and has established itself as a venue for the development of local culture and arts and for communication among citizens every year.
