The Children's Dokdo Volunteer Defense Corps is a children's Dokdo guardian initiative jointly organized by the Ulleung County Family Center, the Dokdo Volunteer Defense Corps Memorial Hall, and the Ulleung Office of Education. It was voluntarily established to express gratitude for the activities of the original Dokdo Volunteer Defense Corps, in which Ulleungdo residents protected Dokdo on their own initiative, and to carry on their spirit.
June 1 is Uibyeong Day, which holds historical significance as a day when people voluntarily defended the nation in times of crisis. For this reason, the event was held on Dokdo. During the event, participants performed flash mob routines to the songs "Dokdo Is Our Land" and "Dokdo Volunteer Defense Corps," declaring to the world that Dokdo is Korean territory.
Lee Dongshin, Superintendent of Ulleung Office of Education, said, "I hope that today's Dokdo flash mob performance will serve as an opportunity to strengthen our resolve to protect Dokdo and to foster a spirit of patriotism," and added, "I would also like to thank the Dokdo Management Office for providing support with the Dokdo Peace Ferry for the event."
The Children's Dokdo Volunteer Defense Corps plans to continue its activities as guardians of Dokdo by participating in events such as the 80th Liberation Anniversary and Dokdo Day.
