Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom to Receive Additional COVID-19 Vaccination at Nam-gu Public Health Center on June 2
Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan, will receive a COVID-19 vaccination to raise public interest in summer COVID-19 vaccination and to encourage participation in COVID-19 vaccinations among seniors aged 65 and older.
The Ulsan city government announced that Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will receive an additional dose of the COVID-19 JN.1 vaccine at Nam-gu Public Health Center at 11:00 a.m. on June 2, and will encourage high-risk groups to participate in vaccination.
In anticipation of a possible COVID-19 outbreak during the summer, the city has extended the vaccination period until June 30. Free vaccinations are being provided to high-risk groups, including seniors aged 65 and older, immunocompromised individuals aged six months and older, and residents or inpatients of infection-prone facilities.
For those who have not yet been vaccinated, the city recommends getting vaccinated as soon as possible, taking into account the four-week period required for sufficient immunity to develop. High-risk individuals who have recently received a COVID-19 vaccination are advised to receive an additional dose at least three months (90 days) after their most recent shot.
As the list of local hospitals and clinics (designated medical institutions) offering COVID-19 vaccinations may change, residents are advised to check the Vaccination Helper website or contact their local public health center in advance to confirm which medical institutions are currently providing vaccinations before visiting.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, "I urge all high-risk groups to actively participate in vaccination to prepare for a possible COVID-19 outbreak this summer."
The COVID-19 JN.1 vaccine is effective against new variants currently circulating both domestically and internationally, and is particularly effective in preventing severe illness and death from COVID-19 among high-risk groups by helping them develop immunity.
