Get a 100-Won Discount and 300-Won Points for Using a Personal Cup at Seoul Caf?s

'Point System' at Participating Cafes Among Seoul Pay Merchants
Monthly 'Tumbler Day' Offers 2,500 Won Discount per Cup

The Seoul Metropolitan Government is launching the "Seoul Pay Personal Cup Point System," which offers a minimum benefit of 400 won to encourage the reduction of single-use items.

The city announced on June 2 that it will officially begin operating the point system from June 4, one day before Environment Day. When a citizen purchases a beverage with a personal cup at a participating caf?, they will receive a store discount of at least 100 won, and the city will additionally provide 300 won in Seoul Pay points.

The point system will be implemented at caf?s among Seoul Pay-affiliated stores that have applied to participate. For citizens who have difficulty using Seoul Pay, a discount equivalent to 300 won will also be provided for regular payments. The city will reimburse the participating stores for these amounts afterward.

The city plans to expand participation by supporting participating stores to independently operate a "Tumbler Day" once a month. On Tumbler Day, up to 50 beverages purchased with a personal cup will receive a discount of 2,500 won per cup, and the city will reimburse the stores for the discounted amounts.

Caf?s wishing to participate in the Seoul Pay Personal Cup Point System can submit an application form, including their business registration certificate, via the QR code provided on the official notice and poster, or by sending the application form and business registration certificate to the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s designated subcontractor by email.

Cho Youngchang, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Resource Recovery Facility Promotion Team, stated, "We will continue to support the creation of a culture in which citizens and small business caf?s can easily and comfortably use personal cups in their daily lives," and added, "We ask for the active interest and participation of both caf?s and citizens."
