Launch of AI Conversational Natural Language Search Service on 'CJ The Market'
Integrating Food Trends and Technology in Response to Digital Transformation
Nutritional Information and Health Trends Offered Through Conversational Queries
On June 2, CJ CheilJedang announced that it will introduce new services based on generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology to its own online mall, in response to changes in the digital environment.
CJ CheilJedang has been officially operating a conversational natural language search service called "Fai" utilizing generative AI on "CJ The Market" since May 22. "Fai," a name that combines "Food" and "AI," aims to provide an intuitive, exploratory search experience that goes beyond the limitations of traditional keyword-based searches.
While the existing search function was a "goal-oriented" method suitable for users who already knew the specific product name, "Fai" allows consumers to explore products even without a clear product in mind, simply by asking everyday questions such as "What should I eat for dinner today?" or "Can you recommend a high-protein, low-calorie meal?" CJ CheilJedang explained that this service more precisely addresses real-life consumer needs.
The main features include concise information retrieval, health trend-based recommendations, and personalized AI curation. The "concise information retrieval" function allows users to quickly find information such as nutritional content, ingredients, and allergens?which previously required checking each product detail page?by asking simple questions. For example, entering "Do you have any ready meals high in protein?" will present relevant products and information that meet the criteria.
The "health trend-based recommendation" feature provides product comparison recommendations based on specific nutritional components such as calories or protein. It is particularly notable for its use of data analysis tailored to CJ CheilJedang's product lineup, enabling customers to select diets customized to their needs.
Personalization functions have also been enhanced. The "personalized AI curation" feature uses AI to learn from purchase history, search patterns, and review data to suggest customized products that match the customer's eating habits and T.P.O. (Time, Place, Occasion). For example, if a customer asks, "Can you recommend snacks that are good for camping?" the service will automatically provide a tailored list.
Lee Kwangho, Head of Platform at CJ CheilJedang, said, "We hope that customers visiting CJ The Market will find greater satisfaction and value through this new exploratory experience called 'Fai.' Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our platform as a food specialty mall by advancing personalized curation and making ongoing efforts to improve customer satisfaction and convenience."
