Gwangmyeong City to Provide Loan Interest Support for Manufacturing Companies Practicing Carbon Neutrality

On June 2, the city announced the implementation of the "Loan Interest Support Program for Companies Practicing Carbon Neutrality" to promote the spread of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management among companies and to foster a sustainable business environment.

The program is open to manufacturing companies registered with a factory in the city that have completed the "Gwangmyeong City Digital ESG Academy" training and have implemented at least one of the carbon neutrality practices suggested by the city.

The "Gwangmyeong City Digital ESG Academy" training can be attended by applying to the city's Carbon Neutrality Division.

The carbon neutrality practices include nine items across six areas: introduction of electric or hydrogen vehicles, installation of renewable energy, replacement with high-efficiency equipment or products, reduction of energy consumption, improvement of building energy efficiency, participation in carbon neutrality activities for the local community, ESG diagnosis or consulting, adoption of eco-friendly packaging or purchase of eco-friendly products, and development of low-carbon (eco-friendly) products, high-efficiency materials, or process technologies with low carbon emissions.

Selected companies will receive interest subsidies of up to 1 percentage point per year and up to 2 million won per company, for loans of up to 200 million won.

Companies wishing to apply should submit their application documents in person or by mail to the Carbon Neutrality Division on the 2nd floor of the Open Citizen Center by October 31. The program may close early if the budget is exhausted. For more details, contact the Carbon Neutrality Division.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, stated, "We hope this program will encourage more companies to practice carbon neutrality and participate in sustainable management," adding, "We will continue to promote various policies to establish a foundation for a sustainable industrial ecosystem together with companies."
