Two Firefighters Suffer Second-Degree Burns on Hands and Necks
"Response Level Issued Due to Concerns of Fire Spreading"
A fire broke out at a manufacturing factory in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon, prompting firefighting authorities to respond. During the process, two firefighters were injured while extinguishing the blaze.
According to the Incheon Fire Headquarters, at around 3:23 a.m. on June 2, a fire occurred at a metal products manufacturing factory in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon. As a result of the fire, two firefighters who participated in the firefighting efforts suffered second-degree burns on their hands and necks and were transported to the hospital by 119 emergency responders.
Upon receiving the report, firefighting authorities issued a "Level 1 Response" alert at 5:36 a.m., 2 hours and 13 minutes after the fire broke out. This alert requires the full mobilization of all fire station personnel, and the authorities began efforts to extinguish the fire. The Level 1 Response is an alert that mandates the deployment of all fire station staff.
Seo-gu, Incheon, sent a safety alert message to inform residents of the fire, urging nearby residents to keep their windows closed and asking drivers to take alternative routes.
An official from the firefighting authorities stated, "The exact ignition point has not yet been identified because it is difficult to enter the interior," and added, "We issued the response level due to concerns that the fire could spread." Firefighting and police authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and assess property damage after the fire is extinguished.
