Mapo District to Hold "Korean Peninsula Grand Festival" at Red Road on June 7, Wishing for Peaceful Unification Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, delivering a greeting at the 1st Korean Peninsula Grand Festival last year. Provided by Mapo District.

This year's festival is designed as a venue for communication and harmony, where residents, nine related organizations, and groups of North Korean defectors will come together to honor those who have devoted themselves to the nation and to promote a positive awareness of unification.

The event will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Red Road R5 with a variety of hands-on booth programs. There will be diverse booths such as the "Joint Art Project: Different but Together," "Experiencing the Value of Peace through War-time Food," and "Making Fans Wishing for Unification." A highlight will be the "Taegukgi We Create Together," where participants can write messages of unification on a large Taegukgi flag. In addition, the festival will widely share hopes for peaceful unification through an exhibition of award-winning works from the "Mapo District Peaceful Unification Drawing Contest," which features participation from the younger generation.

Starting at 4:00 p.m. at Red Road R6, the opening ceremony will be followed by cultural performances symbolizing coexistence between the South and the North. The festival atmosphere will reach its peak with a North Korean dance performance by the Pyongyang Art Troupe, a stage dedicated to supporting North Korean defectors, and celebratory performances by renowned singers such as Noh Sayoun and Kim Soohee.

Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, stated, "The Korean Peninsula Grand Festival is a meaningful occasion that wishes for harmony between the South and the North and expands the consensus on peaceful unification within the local community and among residents. I hope that with your keen interest and participation, we can unite our hearts toward peace and unification."
